Jimmy Brown Announces “Like The First Time: North American Tour”

As K-R&B’s popularity surges in North America, Jimmy Brown has announced a headlining tour with close friend and collaborator Rovv.

Jimmy Brown, a K-R&B artist burning up streaming services with tracks like “Let Me Know”, announced that he will embark on “Like The First Time: North American tour” in November. The tour is organized by MODO Live and Unbound Entertainment Group, and will hit 14 cities. Opening night is set for Toronto on November 5, before Jimmy Brown travels to New York, Chicago, Atlanta, and several cities on the West Coast, including Los Angeles and San Francisco. The tour wraps up on November 21 in Fort Worth, Texas.

Joining Jimmy Brown for the tour, will be his close friend Rovv. The friends have collaborated on several projects, including The Good Day Boys mixtapes, which garnered over 10 million streams. Initially the pair planned to tour North America this spring, and this tour will fulfill their original promise. In a statement provided to press the singer said:

“I love my fans and I want nothing more than to deliver the best show that we possibly can on my upcoming North American tour. Everyone involved realized that to deliver the best shows possible, moving the tour to November would allow us to realize this goal. I hope everyone who purchased a ticket can still attend. Thank you for all your love and support and see you soon!”

Jimmy Brown has infiltrated the K-R&B largely by his own effort. He’s an artist who has chosen to remain independent, and has found huge success by staying true to his vision. “I wanted to make music on my terms, so I decided to go indie,” he said in 2020. Though he’s dropped several EPs and singles, JImmy Brown’s first album “love” was just released in 2021. Using a rich falsetto that can make you break into a hot sweat, Jimmy Brown has built a career out of exploring the theme of love in all of its forms. Oftentimes Jimmy Brown’s form of love is sensual, but other times it is strikingly personal, like on the heartbreaking song “Grandma”.

“Growing up, and even as a kid, I got a lot of love from my family. My grandma, my older brother all of them gave me a lot of love. I had great friends in school too. I wanted to give them something in return. That was my first inspiration for doing music,” he said in the same interview. “I had to make money to give some gifts to my family and friends. Speaking of romantic love, when I was in love with a girl, I felt the same way. I think that love is really a great thing. As I said before it’s the top emotion! If we love, things get easier. All of this has been an inspiration for making music.”

Jimmy Brown’s tour will support the “love” album, as well as the popular Good Day Boys mixtapes, which fuse together hip-hop and R&B. Most strikingly, the tour continues a recent surge in popularity of K-R&B music thanks to several self-made Korean R&B artists, including GEMINI, JUNNY, and Milky Day. These singers not only challenge how we think about the music coming from Korea, but add to the rich catalog of how diverse and experimental the R&B genre is becoming.
