GEMINI Will Tour North America For the First Time This Spring

The supremely talented Korean R&B singer GEMINI will tour North America for the first time ever this Spring.

The singer and Unbound Entertainment announced the “Still Blue” tour on Monday, which will stretch across ten dates beginning in Toronto on March 16. “Still Blue” supports GEMINI’s debut EP of the same name. “I want to see you guys all there,” GEMINI said in a promo video (below).

GEMINI’s name comes from his Zodiac sign and his music at times reflects this magical, ethereal quality. He’s an experimentalist; unafraid of crafting new beats or creating a song that challenges you to listen more than once. His music frequently dips into hip-hop, R&B and, sometimes, even punk. His loose approach to music will arguably make for a compelling stage show.

GEMINI crashed into the Korean music scene on H1GHR MUSIC’s first compilation album, H1GHR : BLUE TAPE with Jay Park, pH-1, and 28AV. Since then, GEMINI has released several impressive singles, including one of my favorites from 2022, the hypnotic “Mon Amour”. He’s also steadily climbed to 1.3 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

His profile began to grow in 2021 thanks to his collaborations with H1GHER MUSIC. That year he shot the cover of the Spring edition of Korea’s DAZED magazine alongside Jay Park. DAZED sponsored a collaboration song and video for the pair with “TRIP”, which was released to coincide with the cover. Perhaps what it signified was that a new era of R&B had arrived in Korea.

In 2022, GEMINI traveled to London and Paris for shows with label mate MIRANI. While there, his style, which is influenced by skate culture and breakdancing, caught the attention of several streetwear fashion brands. His style, which has always been intertwined with his music, became most noticeable this past year as GEMINI prepared for the release of his first EP.

“Still Blue” is a bold, ambitious EP that GEMINI says was largely created as a force of artistic liberation. Prior to the music’s release Gemini felt, “[That] I was making music that others like rather than what I like. I felt empty. Then suddenly I realized, ‘Shouldn’t I be making music that I can enjoy? That’s how ‘Still Blue’ was created.”

The album begins with the simmering “Love is Banned” which serves as one of the most impressive openings to an album that I’ve heard all year. “Can’t you see that I’m here? Don’t make me disappear,” GEMINI begs in the first verse. The album bridges together a variety of sounds and influences. Take, for example, “Rollercoaster”, which recalls ‘90s Nirvana, or “Do Me RIght”, which situates nicely into the landscape of chill, confessional music created by fellow K-R&B artists JUNNY and Sam Kim.

“Still Blue” is transformational for GEMINI and it’s something he’s eager to bring to fans on the road. “For the last 3 to 4 months, I saw myself making this album and didn’t get tired,” he said in December. “I had the greatest experience throughout my career.”

In the final shot of the album’s short film, GEMINI sits with his chin on the palm of his hand as he thoughtfully listens to their work. He nods slowly in approval and for a moment, a look of amazement reaches across his face.

“Still Blue” is now available on
