BZ-Boys Release Their First Mini-album “OUTLAW”

Once believing it was impossible, BZ-Boys have defied the odds and released their debut mini-album following a successful year of “firsts”.

Since their debut in 2019, BZ-Boys have created some of the most underrated pop songs of the fourth generation. This week, the group is releasing their first mini-album “OUTLAW”, which collects two years of music plus the outstanding title track.

“OUTLAW” is BZ-Boys’ most powul title track that allows Bon, Hanmin, Seunghyun and Double D the opportunity to showcase a new color for the group. While previous releases have been mid-tempo, “OUTLAW” is punchy. The boys have never shied away from dynamic choreography that often tells a story, and “OUTLAW” pushes them farther than ever before. Their music is adventurous thanks to the group’s skillful ability to cross dance and pure pop genres.

Though BZ-Boys come from a small company called Chrome Entertainment, their music has always been some of the highest quality in K-Pop. Rounding out the “OUTLAW” EP are familiar favorites for Blueness, BZ-Boys’ fanbase, that displays how underrated they are. Most notably is “Close Your Eyes”, the excellent lead single from 2021 that first made me a fan. “Find You”, a smooth EDM track that gave BZ-Boys their highest viewed video on YouTube last year, is also adds sparks to the tracklist for “OUTLAW”.

Many K-Pop fans might be most familiar with BZ-Boys thanks to the group’s effervescent leader Bon. In 2021, Bon wrote a letter on a Korean social media platform that pleaded with the public to give his group a chance before the comeback for “Close Your Eyes”. His sincerity drew attention to the lack of support smaller groups receive, and the problems that face idols at tiny companies: uncertainty abounds, comebacks are typically paused until enough cash is available, and the idols are forced to wait, growing older as the years pass by.

“It’s true that our team lacks in many areas. However, we worked so hard in the past year for a chance to meet you all. I know that the entertainment industry is not an easy place, not at all,” he wrote.“I am certain that numerous sunbae artists and hoobae artists reached the high places that they are now through immense effort.”

Last year, BZ-Boys’ hard work paid off and they completed their first North American

tour where I met and interviewed them. The boys were grateful, and surprised, by the support they received from Blueness. “This was the first time we’ve met our fans in person,” Seunghyun, the group’s macknae, told me following the fan event in Los Angeles. “All of the fans were so polite and followed staff instructions well so we were pleasantly surprised by how well the tour went. “

Since then, the boys have toured Japan extensively to promote their music and held fan meetings. They’ve also opened social media accounts to connect with Blueness. But by far the biggest accomplishment of the past year for BZ-Boys is that they have persevered. While many groups have disbanded, gone on indefinite hiatus or lost members, BZ-Boys have continued to believe in themselves and to perfect their craft. They might be from a small company, but their vocal abilities and skill as dancers put them nearly in-line with idols from some of the biggest companies in Korea.

“OUTLAW” is an indication of just how much potential BZ-Boys have that has been lying in plain sight for years. K-Pop fans and critics might still be discovering their charms, but they are worth your streams and support. We all have dreams that we are chasing after. BZ-Boys have just been audacious enough to not give up.

“OUTLAW” is available for pre-order from your favorite K-Pop stores and is on all streaming services.
